Just across the Elbe

By day Dresden belongs to the tour groups outside the Frauenkirche and the Zwinger. In the evening locals cross the bridge to the Äußere Neustadt, where pubs, bars and food spots crowd into a few streets and on warm evenings half the neighbourhood is out on the pavement.

The many students make sure something is going on during the week too. In summer people sit on the Elbe meadows looking across to the Old Town, and open-air film nights run on the Königsufer.
