Wroclaw on the Oder

Wroclaw is a city of bridges, islands and students, so an evening rarely stays in one place. It starts on the Market Square or along Ruska Street, where the bars sit side by side, and ends in Nadodrze or down by the river once it gets warm.

In summer the younger crowd hangs out on Wyspa Słodowa and the boulevards along the Oder, and on Ostrów Tumski a lamplighter still lights the gas lamps by hand at dusk. In winter life moves into the cellars under the Market Square and cafés that turn into bars in the evening. And the little bronze dwarves stand on every corner, judging no one.
