From coffee till late

In Skopje everything starts with coffee. "Let's grab a coffee" can easily last all afternoon, and in the evening the crowd moves to Debar Maalo, where the cafés turn into bars and the conversation carries on until late. The Old Bazaar is for longer nights among the old lanes, and when it's warm people stroll along the Vardar.

Summer is for Ohrid: the old town, the beaches and the Ohrid Summer Festival fill the evenings in July and August, and half of Skopje moves to the lake. Bitola has Širok Sokak, where you sit on a terrace and watch who walks by. Winter is for kafanas with live music and long talks somewhere warm.
