In Vilnius the evening often starts in the Old Town. The bar triangle between Vilniaus, Islandijos and Vokiečių streets is full until the early hours at weekends, Užupis and Paupys offer a quieter night, and in summer life moves out onto terraces and down to the Neris.
Kaunas, the former interim capital, has a character of its own: in the evening Laisvės alėja turns into one long walk from bar to bar, students keep the city lively on weeknights too, and during basketball games bars are full all over the country. In Klaipėda evenings revolve around the Old Town and the Danė river, the Sea Festival at the end of July gets the whole city moving, and many spend summer evenings in Palanga, on Basanavičiaus Street.
