In Manila, distance isn't measured in kilometres, it's measured in traffic. A date across the city can mean two hours on EDSA, a surge on your Grab and arriving already tired, so most people pick an area for the night and settle in: Poblacion or BGC for some, Maginhawa or Tomas Morato in QC for others, Kapitolyo for the Pasig crowd.

Once you're there, nights are social and run late: rooftop drinks after work in Makati, a live band covering OPM classics, videoke with the barkada, a midnight silog run on the way home.

Friday and Saturday are the big nights, and payday weekends around the 15th and the end of the month are the busiest. Plenty of plans only start after nine and go well past midnight.

Know a rooftop with a view, a bar with a great live band or the best videoke in your area? Anyone 18+ can host an event on YesTonite: a Poblacion bar crawl, a karaoke night, a Sunday run around BGC. Open ones people join right away; for closed ones guests request a spot and the address stays private.
