KL, after the heat

KL comes alive once the heat of the day breaks. Dinner might be at Jalan Alor or the pasar malam in your taman, followed by a café or a rooftop with a view of the towers, and the night usually ends where it always does: at a mamak, over teh tarik and roti canai, well after midnight.

The catch is getting around. The city is spread out, the Federal Highway has a traffic reputation of its own and a Grab across town adds up, so most people pick one area for the evening: Bukit Bintang or Bangsar, TTDI or Damansara Uptown. YesTonite shows who's out near you, so a lepak with someone new is easy, relaxed and close by.

Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest, and mamak stalls stay open late every night. During Ramadan, evenings centre on buka puasa and the bazaars.

Where KL spends its evenings

  • Bukit BintangThe busy heart of the city, with the Jalan Alor food street and Changkat nearby.
  • BangsarCafés, restaurants and relaxed bars around Jalan Telawi.
  • Petaling StreetChinatown: street food, small cafés and a night market feel.
  • TTDITaman Tun Dr Ismail: neighbourhood cafés and late-night food.
  • Damansara UptownPetaling Jaya's food and café hub, busy late every night.
  • KLCCRestaurants and rooftops around the Petronas Towers and the park.

How it works: three steps.

  1. Say you're out

Switch on "out tonight" and you get a green dot. It turns off by itself in the morning.

  2. Send one message

See a photo and an age, say something, and the chat opens for both of you. No matching first.

  3. Meet tonight

Pick a place, or join an event nearby. Same evening, not three weeks of small talk.

Events anyone can host

Know a night market worth exploring, a café with the best view or a trail for a morning hike? Anyone 18+ can host an event on YesTonite: a food walk on Jalan Alor, a board game evening, a hike at Bukit Kiara, a futsal match. Open ones people join right away; for closed ones guests request a spot and the address stays private.

For local creators and venues
