YesTonite is about meeting new people in real life, often on the same night. Most people you meet are just like you, but a dating profile can never tell you everything about someone. These tips help you stay safe online and when you meet in person.

1. Criminal background checks

YESTONITE DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS OR SCREENINGS ON ITS MEMBERS.

We do not search criminal records for our members: not for felony convictions, not for offenses that require registration as a sex offender, and not for offenses involving family violence. We also do not verify the identity of every member. Members can be reported and are moderated, but please do not assume that anyone you meet through YesTonite has been screened.

2. Safety awareness

  • Anyone who is able to commit identity theft can also falsify a dating profile.
  • There is no substitute for acting with caution when communicating with any stranger who wants to meet you.
  • Never include your last name, e-mail address, home address, phone number, place of work, or any other identifying information in your Internet profile or initial e-mail messages. Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for personal or financial information or attempts in any way to trick you into revealing it.
  • If you choose to have a face-to-face meeting with another member, always tell someone in your family or a friend where you are going and when you will return. Never agree to be picked up at your home. Always provide your own transportation to and from your date and meet in a public place with many people around.

3. Chatting online

  • Keep the conversation in the YesTonite chat until you trust someone. Moving to another app early makes it harder for us to help you if something goes wrong.
  • Never send money, gift cards, crypto or bank details to someone you met on YesTonite, whatever the story. Asking for money is a common scam: report it and we will look into the account.
  • Be careful with photos. Don't share anything you would not want others to see, and remember that screenshots exist.
  • Video-call before you meet if you want to check that someone looks like their photos.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, you can stop replying, block the member and report them at any time.

4. Meeting in person and at events

  • Meet in a busy public place, such as a bar, café or event, and stay there for the first meeting.
  • Tell a friend who you are meeting, where and when, and check in with them during and after the date.
  • Get there and back on your own: take your own car, a taxi or public transport, and keep your phone charged.
  • Watch your drink and your limits. Never leave a drink unattended and don't accept drinks you didn't see being made.
  • At YesTonite events the exact address is shared only with confirmed guests. Don't post the address of an event or a member's details anywhere else.
  • You can leave at any time. You don't owe anyone a second drink, a ride or an explanation.

5. Reporting and getting help

Report a member or an event from their profile, chat or event page in the app or on the website. Reports are confidential: the member is not told who reported them. You can block someone at any time; they will no longer see you or be able to message you.

If you are in danger, contact the local emergency services right away (911 in the United States, 112 in the European Union).

If you have been harmed by someone you met through YesTonite, you can also contact us at info@yestonite.com. We cooperate with law enforcement as described on our law enforcement page.

6. Notice to members in Texas

This notice is given under the Texas Internet Dating Safety Act (Texas Business and Commerce Code, chapter 106).

YESTONITE DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS OR SCREENINGS ON ITS MEMBERS.

The safety awareness information in sections 2 to 5 of this page applies to all members, including members in Texas.
